TVでのスラング: 時代は変わった!

It is strange how acceptable rude words have become.  When I was
young, words like “fuck” and “shit” were beeped out on television.  Now
you watch programs like Sex and the City and the Sopranos
and it seems every second word is “fuck” or “cock” and none of them are
beeped out.  I think “c*nt” is still beeped out, and even I am
reluctant to write it here – it is still the rudest word for me, and I
try not to use it at all.  Strange how a word that means a woman’s
pussy is the rudest word of all…makes you wonder why!

Something that surprised me about Japanese TV  was announcers
commenting on boobs!  The first year I was in Japan, I flicked the TV
over and caught some of a Miss Universe or Miss World show and the
Japanese announcers (a man and a woman) went on and on about the size
of contestants’ boobs!  I don’t think you would hear that on prime time
TV in the States, it wouldn’t be seen as appropriate.  Sure made me
laugh though!

最近では失礼な表現の言葉が許されるものになってきて何だか変ですね…。私が若かった頃は”fuck” や “shit”はテレビで”ピィー”と効果音を入れられるような言葉でした。ドラマSex and the City や the Sopranosを 見ていると毎秒毎秒 “fuck” や “cock” が出てきており、一切効果音が入れられていません。”c*nt”は今でもまだテレビで出てくると効果音を入れられる単語だと思います。私でさえこの言葉をここで出すのはかなり気が引けますこの単語は私の中で一番下品だと思うもので使わないようにしています。なぜ女性器という単語が一番失礼な単語になるのか考えさせられますが…。

ところで、日本のテレビ番組でアナウンサーが胸についてコメントしていたのには大変驚かされました私が日本に住んでまだ間もない頃、ミスユニバースのコンテストが放送されていたのですが、そこで日本人アナウンサー二人(女性と男性)が競争相手たちの胸の大きさについて何度も何度も話すのです!　アメリカのゴールデンタイムではそういったコメントは出てこないし、ふさわしくないと思われると思います。まっ、日本でそれを見たときは正直笑いましたけどね
