Nicely インタビューPart 3: 聞き取り部分の日本語訳

昨日も声の出演をしてくれたChristopher “Nicely” Abel Alamedaのインタビューポストの続きです。ちなみに先月から無料ダウンロードが始まったeBook: fuckの発音パートを担当してくれてるのも彼です。彼は生まれはニューヨークで現在はシアトルでバリスタとして働いています。昨日のインタビューの詳細が下にあります。日本語訳もありますよ!

Q. Could you tell us what you are doing now? 今何の仕事をしているか教えてくれますか?

I work right now for a place called Espresso Vivace in Seattle, I’ve been working there for about two and a half years.  I’m a professional barrista there.  Um…and it saved my life.  I love my job, I love the people I interact with on a daily basis.  I escaped stocking grocery shelves overnight.

Because of this job, it allowed me something to be a professional at, and an artist at the same time.  I really love doing latte art.  It’s just been another medium to express myself artistically.

僕は今シアトルにある”Espresso Vivace”というカフェで働いているんだ。そこで働き始めて2年半になるよ。僕はそこでプロのバリスタなんだ。この仕事の前に夜中にスーパーの品だしをしていたんだけど、今の仕事のおかげで僕の人生が変わったよ。僕はこの仕事が大好きで、日々交流があるお客さん達も大好きだよ。

この仕事のおかげで、僕は、何かのプロであれるのと同時にアーティストでもいられるんだ。僕は、コーヒーの泡の部分に絵を描いたりすることがすごく好きなんだ。これは芸術的に自分を表現できる手段になってるよ。

Q. Could you tell us about your great passion for coffee? コーヒーに対する熱意を教えてくれますか?

I have a flickr website, its Flickr.com/photos/naturallyabel – abel spelt A-B-E-L like my middle name.  And um…there’s something about the…ah…I always break it down into three parts: it’s a science, it’s an art and it’s a skill. I’ve been blessed enough to take this to other places,  I went on a trip to Puerto Rico, this job brought me to my homeland.   I got to show people in Puerto Rico how to make coffee.  On a daily basis it challenges me, it allows me to meet a wide variety of different people.  It’s something that I’ve considered making my long-term career -  of owning a coffee shop one day.

僕は、flickr(フリッカー)ウェブサイトを持っているんだけど…Flickr.com/photos/naturallyabelでabel のスペルは僕のミドルネームみたいにA-B-E-Lってつづるんだ。ん～そうだな…僕はいつもコーヒーに対する熱意/情熱を3つに分けて考えているんだ。科学・アート・スキル。このスキルを他の国や場所でも紹介できるのは本当に嬉しいことだよ。先日プエルトリコに行ったんだけど、この仕事が僕を僕の故郷に行かしてくれたも同然だね。プエルトリコでは、どうやってコーヒーを入れるか現地の人々に見せられる機会があったんだ。日々、この仕事は何か挑戦できるものがあるし、この仕事のおかげで僕は色々な人と出会うことができるんだ。バリスタっていう仕事はいつか自分のコーヒーショップを開くためにも僕の一生の職業にしたいって思っているんだ。
