性欲が強い・セックス狂 Nympho, sex-maniac

昨日は、”dirty” と”nasty”の意味について学習しましたね。今日は”性欲がありすぎる、ありあまる女性達”に注目してみたいと思います。

She’s a nympho. 彼女は性欲の塊のような淫乱な女だ。

“nympho”は”nymphomaniac”の短縮形です。 では、そもそも”nymphomaniac”ってどういう意味なのでしょうか? これは”女子色情症患者“と言う意味で、”不特定多数の男性とセックスを繰り返す”という一種の病気です。でもここで紹介している”nympho”というスラングはただ単に”性欲が強い女性”と言う意味でこの病気とは一切関係ありません。この名詞は通常、女性にだけ使われます。

She’s a sex-maniac.　彼女はセックス狂だ!(大のセックス好きだ)

このフレーズは今では少し古い響きに聞こえてしまいますが、セックスが大好きだという男性・女性両方に使えます。

She’s a nympho.

Nympho is short for nymphomaniac, and what is a nymphomaniac?  It is a real sex-addict.  But with this slang phrase it just means that she has a big appetite for sex, not that she is actually a sex-addict. This noun is usually only used to describe women.

She’s a sex-maniac.

A bit old-fashioned now, but it is a noun that can be used to describe a man or woman who likes lots and lots of sex.

These were quite a difficult posts to think about so if you have any suggestions for words that apply to women who like sex, that aren’t derogatory, it would be great to hear from you.
