昨日は”hangovers”二日酔いについて学びました。今日は大分気分もましになってきたことだしその他のお酒に関するスラングを今日はみていきましょう。

Booze/Alcohol 酒　ビール　アルコール飲料
例:I got the booze for the party. そのパーティー用に酒あるよ。
Did you get some alcohol for tonight?　今晩飲むための酒買った?

to be boozed: 酔っ払う

例: Let’s get boozed!　酔っ払おうぜ!

to be tiddly/happy: ほろ酔いの (女性が使うことが多い)
例: I was only tiddly.　ちょっとだけ酔っ払った。

to be fucked up: かなり酔っ払う

例: I was so fucked up last night! 昨日かなり(酔っ払って)やばかったわ!

to be shitfaced: ひどく酔っ払う

例: My boyfriend was shitfaced when he called me! 私の彼氏が電話してきたとき彼はひどく酔っ払っていた。

To be wasted: 酔っ払う

例: She was wasted when she called her ex. 彼女は元彼に電話したときかなり酔っ払っていた。

二日酔い Hung over…

あ～なんで私は時々飲みすぎてしまうんですかねキモチ悪い…今朝、頭痛、胃のムカつき、ダルさで虚ろになりながら目がさめました。飲みに出かけるのは好きなんですが二日酔いはごめんですね…昨夜、私は友達と一緒にthe Surf Coastersというカッコいい日本人サーフバンドが演奏していたシアトルにあるとあるバーに行ってきました。私は、あまりこういったタイプの音楽には興味がなかったのですが、結構良かったですお客さんの年齢層も様々で、色々な人が彼らの音楽を楽しんでいました。ハワイアンTシャツを着た男性がなぜか多かったですね

調子に乗ってマルガリーターを飲みすぎてしまい、今はかなりキモチ悪いです。二日酔いです…。酔っ払っちゃうとダメですね。もう飲まないことに決めました!!(といっても、次の飲み会までですが…。)　お茶や水を飲み、ひたすら横になるぐらいしか二日酔いから逃れる方法はない気がします。なぜだか私は、普段そんなに飲まないコーラが二日酔いの時は無償に飲みたくなるんです。皆さんもそういうのありますか? どうやって二日酔いを治しています?　何か良い方法があれば教えて下さい☆

Ah why do I drink too much sometimes? I feel bad! I woke up with a headache, a queasy stomach, tired and no brain! I love going out though, last night we went to a bar in Seattle where a cool Japanese surf band, the Surf Coasters, was playing. I’m not really into that kind of music but they were great. There was a really mixed crowd, all kinds of ages and types of people in the audience. There were a lot of guys wearing Hawaiian shirts!

But I drank far too many margaritas and now I feel bad! I have a hangover. I am hung over! I shouldn’t get drunk – I am never drinking again (well until next time!). There just seems to be nothing that can cure a hangover except lying down and drinking lots of tea and water (and I have a strange craving for Coca Cola which I don’t really like normally). Let me know if you have a hangover cure!

バーやクラブに繰り出しお目当ての男性/ 女性をいとめた後、その相手の家に行き一夜を過ごし、翌朝、昨日と同じ服で家まで帰ることを英語で“the walk of shame”と言います。私が大学生だったとき、ほとんどの生徒が大学の近くの同じエリアに住んでおり、車もなかったので、こういった朝帰りの状況が目立ちました。朝8時に昨日と同じ服で家にひそひそと帰る…まさしく”walk of shame”ですね。

今回のビデオクリップはとあるエナジー(栄養)ドリンクのCMです。

ブランチBrunch – 私のお気に入りのレシピつき

私は、週末に友だちとカフェで集まってベーコン、卵、フレンチトーストなどを食べにでかけるブランチが大好きです。それか、お昼まで家で寝て、ダーリンにブランチを作ってあげるのもいいですねっ。愛する人のために朝食をベッドまで持っていってあげるのは最高のもてなしですよ。それかお昼頃まで寝ていて彼氏をベッドの中で料理しちゃうかですね(笑)これがあなたの彼氏/彼女がベッドの中で朝食を出してくれるという本当の意味ですよ。ブランチというのは、朝食とランチの間の食事で、特に週末は遅くまで寝ていて朝食をスキップすることが多くなりがちなのでブランチを楽しむ人が多いです。コーヒーを片手に友だちとまったりしたり、日曜日の新聞を読んだりできるのでブランチは最高ですね

ブランチの定番メニューといえば、ベーコン、卵、トースト、マッシュルーム、トマト。それにハッシュブラウンか、ホットケーキかフレンチトーストとフルーツといった感じでランチよりは軽いけど朝食よりは多めです。

ecookと言う名前のニュージランドのレシピサイトに私のお気に入りのホットケーキの作り方がのっています。今週末に、これを作ってあなたの恋人を驚かして、ベッドの中のブランチをおねだりしてみてはどうでしょうか? ご褒美としてベッドの中で、いつもよりすごいことしてくれるかもしれませんよ(笑)

ホットケーキレシピ

薄力粉　1 1/2カップ
ミックススパイス　小さじ1杯
砂糖　1/2カップ
卵1個
バターミルク　1 1/4 – 1 1/2カップ
バター　50グラム

作り方

小麦粉とミックススパイスをふるいにかけてボウルに入れ、中央にくぼみを作る。
砂糖、卵とバターミルクをかき混ぜ、先ほどのくぼみに注ぎ込み、木のスプーンを使い混ぜ合わせ滑らかな生地を作る。(混ぜすぎないように!!ここが鍵です)
フライパンでバターをうす茶色に変わるまで熱し、それを生地の中に入れる。(熱いので注意しながら)これをすると風味がでる。
フライパンを熱し、バターをひき、中火で生地を焼く。表面にアワアワが出てきたら裏返して裏も焼く。
全部焼きやがったら温かいうちにお皿にベーコンやフルーツと一緒に盛り付ける。メイプルシロップをかけて出来あがり。

I love going out for brunch – it is one of my favorite things to do in the weekend, catch up with friends at a cafe and eat bacon and eggs or french toast. Or wake up late with my darling and cook him up some brunch – it is a real treat when your lover serves you breakfast in bed. Brunch is that meal between breakfast and lunch, often we have no breakfast in the weekend and instead have brunch. It is great to relax with friends and read the Sunday paper with a good cup of coffee.

The usual menu for brunch might be a “big breakfast”: bacon, eggs, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes and hash browns, or pancakes or french toast and fruit.

My favorite pancake recipe is as follows and comes from a great NZ recipe site called ecook. Surprise your lover this weekend and make them brunch in bed. Your darling may reward you by keeping you in bed longer than usual!

PANCAKES recipe!!!

1 1/2 cups self rising flour
1 tsp mixed spice
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 – 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (full cream milk)
50 grams butter

Method
1. Sift the flour and mixed spice into a bowl and make a well in the center.
2. Beat the sugar, egg and buttermilk together and pour into the center and stir with a wooden spoon to make a smooth batter (Sarah says: don’t overmix, that is the key to pancakes!).
3. Heat the butter in a frying pan and cook until it turns nut brown. Then carefully stir this into the batter. This will give the pancakes a lovely flavor.
4. Pour half cupfuls of batter into a heated frying pan and cook over a moderate heat until the bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook the other side.
5. Once all the pancakes are cooked serve them warm with grilled bacon or fruit and topped with maple syrup.

パーティーPartying: 乾杯! かんぱい

これはとっても笑えるテレビ番組”Seinfeld” で出演者のKramerが飲み屋で飲んでいるシーンです普通、お酒を飲む際、”cheers”「乾杯!」と言いますが、何かの目的のためにお酒を飲む場合は、”a toast”(～のために乾杯する、乾杯の挨拶)を付け加えることもあります。そういった場合は、英語では”Here’s to…”(～のために乾杯!／～に幸あれ!)のように始めます。

このビデオクリップの中でKramerはビールを飲む前に”Here’s to feeling good all the time.”(気分がいつも良いことに乾杯!)と言っています。

I’ve been out for drinks quite a few times in Seattle. There are all types of bars and clubs here, especially if you like live music.
