“嫌な男”って聞いてパッと顔が思い浮かぶ男性はいますか?　そういう男性のことを、前のポストにも紹介したことのあるスラング(“fuckhead”や”fucker” )を使って呼ぶことが出来ます。でも、もし“bitch ビッチ”と同じような意味を持つスラングで男性を呼びたいのなら、”bastard” か “asshole”が最適だと思います。

“bastard”の元々の意味は、“結婚していない親の元に産まれた子“です。でも、今では親が結婚していないだとか片親だとか言うことは、そんなに珍しいことではないし、それがネガティブだという考え方は昔よりは確実に薄まってきていますよね。スラング、”bastard”の意味は、女性の扱いがひどい男性、自己中心的で意地悪な人のことです。イギリス人やニュージーランド人の方がアメリカ人に比べてこのスラングをよく使うようですが、まだまだアメリカでも聞く機会が多々あります。また後ほどアップする予定の”セックスアンドザシティー”のビデオクリップの中でも実際に使われていますよ!

I explained a lot about names you can call women, like bitch and slut, so I thought it only fair that I do the same thing for men!  So what can we call men?

You have a bad guy in your life? You could call him a fuckhead or fucker as I explained in an earlier post.  But if we are looking at the meaning of bitch, the equivalent for a man would probably be bastard or asshole.

The meaning of bastard is literally a child who has parents that are not married.  That is an old-fashioned meaning now there are so many people with unmarried parents – it is hardly seen as a bad thing anymore.  The meaning of bastard in slang is a man who treats you badly, someone who is selfish or mean.  The English speakers in England or NZ would use bastard more often then in the US but they still do use it as I will show you in a Sex and the City post later this week.  You can see a variety of meanings of bastard at Urban Dictionary as well
