汚い表現使いすぎかな? I might swear too much

最近自分でも思うのですが、私、結構汚い言葉を使いがちです… 一般的にニュージランド人は汚い表現をを結構頻繁に使うみたいです。私自身、あまり荒々しい女だと思われたくないんですけどね。

「くそー」とか「チェッ」とか「バカ野郎～」とかそういった汚い言葉を使うのは本気で怒った時とか、たまに言う方が聞き手にインパクトを与えますしね家族間や会社のオフィスでもし汚い言葉を使ったら50セント(約50円)を入れないといけない箱を作っているところもたまにあるようです。そして、週の終わりにそこに貯まったお金でケーキを買ったり夕食に出かけたりするんです。私もこの箱を自分のオフィスに置いたほうがいいかもしれませんね

I think I might swear too much. New Zealanders in general swear quite a lot. I don’t want to seem too rough – rough as guts*! Swearing really is better if you only do it occasionally as it makes a big impact. Sometimes families or offices might have a swear jar where you have to put 50 cents in the jar if you swear, and then at the end of the week the money is used to buy some cake or for a dinner. Maybe I should start my own swear jar in my office.

最近、bitch ビッチや slut スラットetc…のようにスラングで女性を呼ぶ方法を紹介してきました。今度は男性について考えてみましょう!　スラングで男性を何と呼べばいいですかね??

“嫌な男”って聞いてパッと顔が思い浮かぶ男性はいますか?　そういう男性のことを、前のポストにも紹介したことのあるスラング(“fuckhead”や”fucker” )を使って呼ぶことが出来ます。でも、もし“bitch ビッチ”と同じような意味を持つスラングで男性を呼びたいのなら、”bastard” か “asshole”が最適だと思います。

“bastard”の元々の意味は、“結婚していない親の元に産まれた子“です。でも、今では親が結婚していないだとか片親だとか言うことは、そんなに珍しいことではないし、それがネガティブだという考え方は昔よりは確実に薄まってきていますよね。スラング、”bastard”の意味は、女性の扱いがひどい男性、自己中心的で意地悪な人のことです。イギリス人やニュージーランド人の方がアメリカ人に比べてこのスラングをよく使うようですが、まだまだアメリカでも聞く機会が多々あります。また後ほどアップする予定の”セックスアンドザシティー”のビデオクリップの中でも実際に使われていますよ!

I explained a lot about names you can call women, like bitch and slut, so I thought it only fair that I do the same thing for men! So what can we call men?

You have a bad guy in your life? You could call him a fuckhead or fucker as I explained in an earlier post. But if we are looking at the meaning of bitch, the equivalent for a man would probably be bastard or asshole.

The meaning of bastard is literally a child who has parents that are not married. That is an old-fashioned meaning now there are so many people with unmarried parents – it is hardly seen as a bad thing anymore. The meaning of bastard in slang is a man who treats you badly, someone who is selfish or mean. The English speakers in England or NZ would use bastard more often then in the US but they still do use it as I will show you in a Sex and the City post later this week. You can see a variety of meanings of bastard at Urban Dictionary as well

Bastard Examples:

Jesus Christ!はブライアンが説明しているように、イライラしている時やムッとさせられるような状況の時に使うスラングです。宗教心のある人が周りにいない限り、このスラングは大体の場合どこででも使えす。fuckingと間に入れるだけでこのスラングの意味がもっと失礼なものになりますので注意してくださいね。職場やお友だちなどの両親の前では使わないほうがいいですよ。

Jesus Christ is a common swearword, used as Brian says: when you are frustrated or annoyed – unless the people you are with are very religious, you can say that almost anytime. Adding in fucking makes it ruder, so be careful who you use it around. Best not to use it at work or around someone’s parents!

単語”fucking”の意味・使い方

最近では多くの人が”fucking”をどんなことに対しても使っており、日常語になりつつありますが、本来は、怒りやイラダチを強く表したいときに使用します。fuck/ﾌｧｯｸという言葉は人を傷付ける可能性があり、使ってはいけない場合も多々あることを忘れないで下さいね! それと、毎日使っていると普段からこの単語を使いすぎるとこの言葉の力や強さが弱まるので本気で使いたいときだけお使い下さい。

One use of fucking is as an intensifier showing that you are angry or annoyed, although recently many people use it as part of their everyday language talking about anything. Remember though that using fuck may offend some people and be completely inappropriate in some situations. Using it all the time lessens its strength so best to say it when you really mean it!

As an adjective:　形容詞として

What a fucking idiot!　なんてバカな!

As an adverb:　副詞として

Miki isn’t fucking interested in him!　ミキは彼なんかに全く(死ぬほど)興味ないのよ!

ビッチ！

これはSex and the Cityのショートクリップです。この中でサマンサはある女性をビッチ（a bitch）と呼んでいます。ビッチは女の人に対して使う呼び名で、その人にムカついていたり、怒りの感情があるときにその人の事をビッチと呼ぶことができます。

でもこれはすごく失礼で乱暴な言い方なので友だちやお母さん、会社のボスなどには使わないように

１．本来、Bitchとはメス犬のことを指します。　でも、今では怒りを込めて女の人を呼ぶ時のスラングとして使われています。（このビデオの中で使われているみたいに）

２．また、この単語は人使いの悪い、男性を困らせるような女性と言う意味もあります。ビッチである事を逆に誇りに思っている女性もたまにいるようです。そして“being a bitch”“ビッチでいる”事をジョークに使ったりもするようです。このように言えます。

“I was such a bitch to John last night.” 「昨晩ジョンを困らせちゃった」

３．最後に、文句を言いたい時、動詞のbitchが使えます。

“She was bitching me about being late.” 「彼女は私が遅刻した事に対して文句言ってくるの」

This is a Sex and the City (very short) clip and in it Samantha calls another woman a bitch. Bitch is a name we call women when we are angry or upset with them. It is rude, so don’t call your friend’s mother or your boss a bitch!

1. Bitch really means a female dog, but now has been adopted into slang to mean: a woman you are angry or annoyed with (like in the video here).

2. It can also mean a woman who treats people (especially men) badly – some women are proud of this and might joke about “being a bitch”.

“I was such a bitch to John last night.”

3. and finally as a verb “to bitch” means to complain.

“She was bitching me about being late.”

TVでのスラング: 時代は変わった!

It is strange how acceptable rude words have become. When I was
young, words like “fuck” and “shit” were beeped out on television. Now
you watch programs like Sex and the City and the Sopranos
and it seems every second word is “fuck” or “cock” and none of them are
beeped out. I think “c*nt” is still beeped out, and even I am
reluctant to write it here – it is still the rudest word for me, and I
try not to use it at all. Strange how a word that means a woman’s
pussy is the rudest word of all…makes you wonder why!

Something that surprised me about Japanese TV was announcers
commenting on boobs! The first year I was in Japan, I flicked the TV
over and caught some of a Miss Universe or Miss World show and the
Japanese announcers (a man and a woman) went on and on about the size
of contestants’ boobs! I don’t think you would hear that on prime time
TV in the States, it wouldn’t be seen as appropriate. Sure made me
laugh though!

最近では失礼な表現の言葉が許されるものになってきて何だか変ですね…。私が若かった頃は”fuck” や “shit”はテレビで”ピィー”と効果音を入れられるような言葉でした。ドラマSex and the City や the Sopranosを見ていると毎秒毎秒 “fuck” や “cock” が出てきており、一切効果音が入れられていません。”c*nt”は今でもまだテレビで出てくると効果音を入れられる単語だと思います。私でさえこの言葉をここで出すのはかなり気が引けますこの単語は私の中で一番下品だと思うもので使わないようにしています。なぜ女性器という単語が一番失礼な単語になるのか考えさせられますが…。

ところで、日本のテレビ番組でアナウンサーが胸についてコメントしていたのには大変驚かされました私が日本に住んでまだ間もない頃、ミスユニバースのコンテストが放送されていたのですが、そこで日本人アナウンサー二人(女性と男性)が競争相手たちの胸の大きさについて何度も何度も話すのです!　アメリカのゴールデンタイムではそういったコメントは出てこないし、ふさわしくないと思われると思います。まっ、日本でそれを見たときは正直笑いましたけどね

“fuck“を使わなくても他の方法で、あなたのいらだち、怒り、ショックを表現できます♪　下の語はどれも失礼な言い方ではないので、どんな状況でも使えますよ。

Here are some other ways you can express your annoyance, anger or shock without using fuck! as an exclamation. None of these are rude so you can use them anytime.

Damn!
Oh my God!*
Jesus!*
Christ!*
Good grief!
Goodness!
Gosh!
Flip!

使用する状況にもよりますが、上の語は全部、”ちくしょう! くそっ！まあ！しまった！”といった意味です。

*this is OK for most people, but some (not all) Christians might find this offensive

＊大体の人はこれを聞いても別に気にしませんが、ごく少数のキリスト教徒の人たちは＊のフレーズは侮辱的だと感じるかもしれませんので注意下さい。

これはセックス・アンド・ザ・シティシーズン 3 のエレベーターシーンです(season 3 episode 9 -Easy come, easy go) 。このエレベーターの中では何点か”fuck”を使った良い例が使われています。1:51から始まるシーンの会話です.

This is the elevator scene of セックス・アンド・ザ・シティシーズン 3 (season 3 episode 9 -Easy come, easy go) and in the elevator they use some good examples of the word fuck! In the elevator (starting at 1:51)they say:

Big:    The thing is…fuck! I miss you
Carrie: Too bad…Do not come in here. Don’t follow me in here
Big:    I have to talk to you.
Carrie: What? What is it you have to say?
Big:    I made a mistake.
Carrie: Fuck you!
Big:    I love you.
Carrie Fuck you!

Big:　俺が言いたいことは…くそっ!　お前がいなくて寂しいんだ。

Carrie: それは残念ね…入ってこないでよ。私について来ないでよ。

Big:　君と話さなきゃいけないことがあるんだ。
